Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Hello everyone! I figure I'd introduce myself here, awesome group and posts in the thread so far. I live in Michigan and have 1 Camponotus novaeborencsis colony, 2 Tetramorium colonies and one Tetramorium polygyny experiment. I've got a thread and videos documenting some of the moments should you ch...

Re: I need feedback on my design and plans!

Actually I thought it would be easier to just start a new thread all together. Could you guys do me a favour and introduce yourselves on: https://forum.AntsCanada.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=15267 Simply state where you are from, which species you have and then we should be off to a good start! :D Awe...

Re: C. noveboracensis and T. spE: My first dive into ant keeping

It's been a second but I am working on a couple updates for the colonies, but here's a brief update to keep you all in the loop. Last I counted the C. nova colony is up to 13 workers, and it also appears the queen has decided her mega stack of eggs, larvae and pupae is enough to last until winter. S...

Hope they enjoy the offering! I'm glad to see it seems you've kept them happy thus far, got my fingers crossed that the Tapinoma colony decides to choose you as their permanent land baron. :P

Re: TinyAnt's Camponotus Castaneus Journal

I have a Canon powershot sx530 I set to macro and take like 20 pictures until I get that perfect shot. It's still a pretty decent camera for being like 6 years old * Jealously drooling... By the way, you might enjoy our little band of Camponotus keepers to exchange experiences with. Check the 2nd l...

Re: C. noveboracensis and T. spE: My first dive into ant keeping

I don’t usually give any insects to the ones in the test tubes. Whatever it was I left it in there. They are fire ants so I don’t thing it’s a danger to them. I was kinda hoping it was one of those creatures that shares the honey like substance with them. I forgot what they were called I would find...

Re: I need feedback on my design and plans!

Hey Hawkeye, sorry to hear about your nanitics passing. It'll make the founding queen's life harder but not impossible, and I believe in your ability to care for her while she tries to get some new helpers. Certainly other arthropods can be problematic, centipedes and millipedes are rather aggressi...
