Re: Prevent lasius niger escaping
Would baby powder work for a lasius niger colony? Lasius niger are quite good at climbing. The current colony is currently small, would they be able to pass the barrier?

Okay, these are two good options to keep ants inside their formicarium. Thank you for the advice.

Re: Capturing Wild Colony
Thank you, I will try that. Are there any other ways to make the colony relocate?

Prevent lasius niger escaping
I have a new lasius niger colony, and the outworld it will be kept in will need a protective barrier. What can I use for to make the outworld escape proof?

Re: How fast do Crickets mould?
Okay, thank you. The colony is very small, approximately 15 workers, so I would not expect them to eat the cricket in one week. I'll just take the remains out later. Thank you for replying.

Re: I'm new and my ants water is running out.
Assuming that she is in a test tube setup, you could take an identical test tube with water and attach it using sellotape. This would give the queen more water. Then, the queen needs to be moved to the new test tube with all her brood. This can be done through exposing the old test tube to light and...

Capturing Wild Colony
I am not just trying to be impatient. There is a wild colony of ants in my kitchen, and my family wants to poison it. Is there any way of extracting the queen ant to capture her, for example something that will make the colony relocate in a short space of time? Digging the colony up is not a choice,...

How fast do Crickets mould?
I am going away for a week, leaving my ants. Will crickets mould in that time, and would the ants eat moldy crickets if they do mold? Is it safe ants like this, or should I find another protein source?

Re: What's The Importance of Wet Cotton Positioning?
That makes more sense, I should probably give them an outworld then.

Re: What's The Importance of Wet Cotton Positioning?
So it is recommended to give ants an outworld when they have their first workers? I have never heard of that before, then it is probably worth giving my new Lasius niger colony an outworld too, the colony has grown to 12 workers.
