Update on Sad Story

About 3 weeks ago, I wrote a post here on how all of my Carpenter ant workers passed, and the queen was alone with her brood. Now, it seems she ate her brood, except for 1 egg. She is protecting it, but I am worried now that she may just do nothing until she dies. Is there any hope?? If anyone has a...

A Sad Story--Need Advice

Hello, Basically, a terrible thing happened (long story) and all of the workers (9 of them) died in my Camponotus colony. The queen is okay. Social Parasite queen

Hello, i had asked earlier in the week if formica ants are typically fully claustral, and got told they were. I then placed the queen into a test tube about 3 days ago and decided to check on her. All she has done so far is pull at the cotton. Is there a chance she is of the formica species that is ...

Re: Formica ant

In that case, just put her into a test tube set up and into the drawer for a week or two and see what happens?

Formica ant

I just caught a formica queen, and I have a few questions.
1) are the semi or fully claustral?
2)is one queen enough to start a colony?
Thank you!!
