Re: Looking to start my first Formicarium!

first, yes the testtube with water will work fine

yes any decor is great but dont put too much.

putting it on a desk will be fine, only put the heat mat on the side of the nest only.

and i highly suggest waiting until next spring to buy the queen. no point right now.

good luck

Re: Hi ant enthusiasts, I am new :)

Welcome James,
make yourself comfortable. we are all very nice and helpful so any questions will definitely be answered here.

Dont mind the bots as there are a lot these days.

also, it will be pretty rare to catch any queens as it is almost time for hibernation.
anyway have fun

Re: Formica Colony Help

you should only replace their water every 2 months or so, and yes they are probably getting ready for hibernation

Re: I think my queen is dying! D=

i have an idea, give her a small drop of honey then leave her alone somewhere in your closet where theres no disturbance. and leave her there, forever. (2weeks) then tada nanatics. the main problem here is you are being a DISTURBANCE changing tubes, checking up on her, its not healthy just LEAVE her...
