Re: Transfer Ant or not?

you shouldnt do it right now, as they will be going into hibernation, and taking a well established colony getting ready for a dormant stage is a big no no, as it will most likely lead to their deaths.

instead, wait till next spring for nuptial flight, besides, ant keeping is all about patience

Oh I thought they cut them off when they were done mating. But you may be right some Queens don't, hell some maybe even forget lol

Either way 3 months no egg... THAT is unusual
maybe she wanted to wait till next spring?

She might not. If she still has wings she probably never mated. And if after 3 months hasn't layed a single egg, doesn't sound like a good sign sorry bud
having wings or not doesnt mean anything, but i agree

Re: A new ant Formicarium based PC game?

i think this would be hard but, it would be cool if you could start as a queen alate in 3rd person, fly around and look for the mating place, while also dodging any predators that might want to eat you! then you dig up a founding chamber and take care of brood until your nanatics come, then you can ...

Re: ant nest HELP

Just keep feeding them as normal, they will eat as needed. its highly likely they are eating a small amount at night, just not enough to be noticable. you are right except only 1 came out!!!! i saw one lone ant drinking some honey, guarded the nest, and attempted to pull the whole spider by herself...

Re: Noob needing ID

Looking at pictures now and it's pretty clear. The thorax is way bigger and sort of flat on top. I let her go this morning where I found her. I guess I just got excited when I saw her. I need to study my local species more before I go out queen hunting. It's weird that I've gone my entire life thin...
