Re: Possible New Jersey Club?

Idk if this is a weird thing to ask, just like going out and catching queens and putting them in test tubes. family doesn't ...

Re: 8 Queens to Identify, help!

Whoops I didn't mean to say prenolepis imparis for #2! I meant #1! Sry! It does look like it, however it is way too big! #1 is 13mm long, Winter ants are generally at most 9mm long. I also can't find a carpenter ant that looks like it. Its gotta be some sort of Formica, only ones that are that big ...

Re: Queen Feeding

Thx for the help! I couldn't go out and buy any feeder insects so I decided to give her a small piece of chicken(boiled) and she loved it.

Queen Feeding

I have had my queen ant for almost 8 months now and her previous eggs have all failed to reach pupae stage. I am pretty sure that she is either Formica Fusca or Subsericea (both fully claustral) but I am beginning to think that her "wing energy" is probably gone by now. She has a new batch of eggs n...

Re: Substitute for Ytong in the US?

You need to get k23 refractory brick, not all firebrick will work. Then, it is easier than grout. Check pottery or kiln stores. Otherwise, if it's not available, grout is the way to go. K23 is very similar to ytong. Five bucks for a six by four by two (approximately) block, not at all that expensiv...

Re: Substitute for Ytong in the US?

Here is a YT video on how to do what I was talking about with grout. Also even though you'll see people talking about and or doing it, avoid using Plaster! Plaster with moisture breaks down faster and it molds quicker, you for sure wouldn't want to use a plaster with mold inhibitors in it (same goe...
