Re: AntTower Sand Mold

Thanks for the tip! Will try it out Can it be 100% coconut fiber? If not, i imagine the 33% coconut fiber would be the top layer right? While there isn't anything wrong with 100% cocunut fiber, it is a very fibery material and by itself not the best environment for ants. It isn't something can dig ...

Re: AntTower Sand Mold

Haze, One thing to understand, and this is why I don't recommend dirt or sand nests to new ant keepers, mold will grow in dirt nests. This is primarily due to waste from the ants or their food. You absolutely have to have decomposers in the ant tower if you're going to go that route. This means spri...

Re: Baltimore maryland resident looking to start a common and colony looking for help

Anyone have tips or if there is a local guide I would be interested because ants are awesome, thank you. Hello. Have you heard of the GAN (Global Ant Nurs...

Re: Formicarium suggestions for tiny species?

Update: So, I ultimately decided on a tarheel ants and Ants Australia acrylic nest for my Pheidole and this has worked nicely. However, the acrylic AA nest was initially intended for my solenopsis. No luck there. They simply escaped through the air holes. One particular difficulty for this species ...

Re: An observation I've made with Parasitic Lasius Queens and supporting research, Severn MD

Hey I’ve also read that study, it was an interesting read. I have been keeping Claviger Queens for about 2 years and have always fed them. They love sitting on sugar water soaked cotton balls inside the test tube. I feed all the queens I catch sugar water whether they are semi-claustral or not. The...
