Try this: Moisten the tube in warm water to make it softer, then attempt to squeeze the tubing into the hole. If this doesn't work I don't know what else you could do

Why would you want to freeze them in the first place? To slow them down enough to get a good picture you could just put them in the fridge for a little while.. :?:

I have a camponotus pennsylvanicus queen in a test tube and she and the brood were doing fine until winter came and the heat had to be turned on making it quite dry. Now the brood is starting to dry up and I have been trying to find ways to increase the humidity as the water in the test tube isn't ...

Based on that I would guess Lasius sp. or Crematogaster sp. but I would wait for a more experienced person to identify them, like batspiderfish. Definitely not Prenolepis imparis if you caught her in September/August.

It's likely a different insect similar to a solitary wasp since its antennae are not elbowed, it's definitely not a(n) (queen) ant.
