Re: OH-KY-IN-IL-MI Nuptial Flight Sightings

I've scouted about 50+ Prenolepis imparis colonies and all of them have emptied out their drones and female alates. I've looked everywhere from under leaves, logs, rocks, and holes in the ground and all I've found are 3 dead queens being eaten by aphaenogaster colonies, dead drones, in webbing, live...

Re: OH-KY-IN-IL-MI Nuptial Flight Sightings

They flew here in Southern Illinois/St. Louis area yesterday or the day before. I've found one dead queen and tones of dead drones but not a single queen. I've looked everywhere under every log and under leaves all over the place. I've probably cover a good 30 square meters

Re: OH-KY-IN-IL-MI Nuptial Flight Sightings

I've been keeping an eye on a few active Prenolepis Imparis colonies to get a good idea of when they are going to fly. I checked them yesterday and the elates are still chilling in the colonies. This is in illinois around STL

Re: OH-KY-IN-IL-MI Nuptial Flight Sightings

so far it's rained so Imparis flights have been delayed by weather. All wild colonies I've located still have elates swarming near their entrances. Also about the Lasius lol I've found 40+ parasitic queens too... claviger, Interjectus , and Umbratus 30 of the claviger queens were in a Niger colony s...

Re: OH-KY-IN-IL-MI Nuptial Flight Sightings

For anyone in Illinois or the STL area. I was at the park earlier today and prenolepis imparis aka winter ants were swarming around the entrances of their nests. Expect nuptiual flights over the next 2 days

Re: OH-KY-IN-IL-MI Nuptial Flight Sightings

Haven't seen any Prenolepis imparis flights yet here in Illinois but hoping soon. I have found several Lasius umbratus, Interjectus, and Claviger queens. Rolled a log over and found a small Lasius Niger colony with a dead queen swarmed with several parasite queens of all 3 species mentioned so tried...

Keep them in a calm dark area while they are in their founding testube. Don't stress them or they'll eat the eggs
