Re: barrier
I always seem to have a problem with Alcohal and baby powder. It always falls off. What do I do about that? Or do I just let it be?

Re: Brood boosting
Yes that is perfectly fine. If the worker turns out to be from a different species there could be problems. I would never recommend brood boosting unless the colony was dying anyway.

Re: Keeping ants in a garage?
When keeping ants in the garage in a temperate region, make sure it doesn't get VERY cold all year round. If it gets about -5 F or lower I would keep them in your basement or attic or even in your fridge if you can. It's alway better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Tetramorium omni nest question
put dirt in a bowl or bucket. Take boiled water a pour it in the bucket filled with soil. Do that until all of the soil is wet. Then mix the soil around adding more boiling water so the dirt soaks it all up. Once you finish doing that, let it dry for a couple of days. And then you have sterilized di...

Re: Queen not taking care of eggs
I'm sorry to tell you this, but first of all just because a queen lost her wings that doesn't mean she's fertile. Also, the fact that a queen has eggs scattered around and isn't taking care of them is a very definite sign that the queen is infertile. If those eggs turn into pupae and then hatch, the...

Re: Keeping ants in a garage?
As long as it doesn't get above 85 degrees F I don't think it would be a problem. I keep my ants in my garage in the Spring, Fall, and Summer and keep them in my basement in the winter to hibernate. I haven't had any problems with this so far. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

Ant Barriers
Hi, I have ants in my garage. It is currently 90% humidity and sometimes higher every day. I have been using baby powder which works fine. However, I am nervous when the time comes to reapply the barrier as this could make a mess. I have tried fluon but the humidity is too high. What other barriers ...
