Re: Do I feed my colony everyday?

I'm also curious to know how often a new tetramorium colony should be fed. I'm keeping the same species around the same size so any info would be much appreciated.

GAN Project Sign Up Issues

Hi all, just writing because I have some concerns and I'm hoping some of you have gone through the GAN Project process before. I have a bunch of Tetramorium queens I was hoping to sell off, I emailed a month ago while they were still tending brood with all the info hoping I could get pre-registered ...

Re: Queen ID, Found in Seattle WA

So I read above that Formica aren't supposed to lay eggs until after the winter? Well so far one of them has layed a couple. Is that egg laying rule a 100% thing or just what generally happens?

Re: Queen ID, Found in Seattle WA

Would grabbing a measurement when I get home help put an end to the debate? I assumed it was camponotus because it was so much bigger than the rest of my ants (so far I also have tetramorium, lasius and possibly pheidole?) but if Formica are also bigger than all of those then I'm not so sure anymore...

Questions about a Cigar Box

So three of my tetramorium queens have their first nanitic workers- yay! Now that I have to start feeding them, though, I've been looking for another dark place that's a little easier to access than where I have the rest of my queens currently. That's where the titular cigar box comes in. I picked i...

Queen ID, Found in Seattle WA

Found two of these big black queens over the last couple days. One with wings, one without. Definitely the biggest queens I've caught this season and boy can they scurry quick! Are they carpenter ant queens? Fully or semi claustral? http://i.imgur.com/Vmly2Sq.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HltLB8t.jpg http:...

Re: Help! Queens won't move to new test tubes!

Okay- should I just keep the tubes connected and put them back in the dark? Check on them again next week?

Help! Queens won't move to new test tubes!

Help! My ant queens won't move to their new test tube set ups! I have seven queens, mostly tetramorium, and their set ups are super moldy and they are nearly out of water. I attatched new test tubes, wrapped in paper towel to keep them in the shade, and left them under my lamp over night. None of th...
