So I have recently caught 2 Lasius Umbratus queens and I am still waiting on adding host workers, in your opinion what is the best way to introduce some workers, thanks!

Re: tetramorium sp. e Queen help!

FINALLY after all these years, they have a name, the great drought is over! Thanks for letting me know, so they are different from the European species? I was so confused when I saw all the posts about Immigrans and I was like, “what?”, well thanks!

Re: Combining fusca queens

Yeah I tried that with the False honeypot ant in N.A. and I combined 4 queens, soon enough though one by one the queens started to die so either they sprayed each other or it seemed like the workers stopped feeding one of their least favorites. If you catch more this season then maybe you could try ...

Re: Can you help me with identification and weird behavior?

Your first queen looks to be a niger, but the second queen’s behavior sounds like an infertile one, I had a camponatus queen last year that was wingless but then scattered all her eggs around and did not care for them or collect them so they died, sounds like you have the same situation, I’d keep he...

Pavement ant queens do that, I have kept many and they just sit there until they become workers, DO NOT flip her over as she may get stressed and eat all of her brood. I would only check on her once a week maximum as a stressed queen will eat her eggs. I like to just stare at the queens antenna to s...

Illean the two legged queen

So I am kicking off this blog to follow a tetramorium Sp. E queen which was captured with only the front pair of legs. She is super funny and acts like all of my other normal tetramorium queens. She has some trouble moving but has raised 1 worker so far as of July 13th. I will continue to update on ...

Re: Combining fusca queens

You could connect the test tubes together and give them some time, do not forcibly put one with the other, this does not always work out even though they are polygynos so I advise you to keep them separate, I know it’s cool forming a big super colony but in most cases the strongest queen survives an...

Re: Did I Find a Queen? If So, Need an ID.

Those are definitely queens, it’s just hard to tell how what genus they are, they look like they could be tetramorium, Formica, or camponatus, how big are they?
