Please help identify Utah ant

I found 2 of these. One about 9:30 am and one at 7:00 pm. I'm a little curious because I first thought they were velvet ants. They are pretty clumsy and have a difficult time righting themselves after they are on their backs. They can't do it on glass. They don't climb well. Date : August 10 Locatio...

Re: Queen? If so what kind.

A queen very similar found me as I was waiting for a table at The Crazy Norwegians restaurant in Port Orford, Oregon on July 14th. I just taped the two test tubes together. Fuzzy photo I know. Tetramorium battle to the death normally so maybe nanitics beha...

Try merging them with the other colony. The brood at least will be accepted. I've had it work before with a queen that died.

Re: Utah Ant Keepers, Help Requested!

Is anyone in Utah finding queens right now? I've seen some late Tetramorium but few to none other species. I believe Pogonomyrmex will be flying soon.

Hello from Utah

New to ant keeping this year and it's fascinating. So far I have colonies of Camponotus modoc and Tetramorium. Looking to add Pogonomyrmex next!
