Re: Oregon/Washington Ant Sightings Post Here!!!

How slow growing are they compared to Camponotus species? It was almost exactly two months from my first Camponotus eggs to my first nanitics, so I'm hoping Formica are a bit faster than that. I have seen my first larva with one of my queens, though, after less than a week and a half, so I'm hoping ...

Re: Oregon/Washington Ant Sightings Post Here!!!

Couldn't manage to get a decent picture of them that wasn't either super blurry or too far zoomed out to actually see what they looked like, but the ones that I think are f. Pacifica are about 8mm long, with a reddish brown thorax, and a kinda brownish gray head and gaster, which has a very bright, ...

Re: Oregon/Washington Ant Sightings Post Here!!!

My phone does terrible with taking pictures through the test tubes and that's the only camera I have, but I'll see what I can get. I got another queen of what I'm pretty sure is f. Pacifica yesterday along with two smaller black formica queens. All of them were caught between 3-5pm

Re: Oregon/Washington Ant Sightings Post Here!!!

Caught 3 Formica queens up in Arlington, WA today. Pretty sure they're F. Pacifica, which is awesome, but not fully sure.

Re: Oregon/Washington Ant Sightings Post Here!!!

I'm pretty sure most of mine are C. Modoc, but there might be another one mixed in. Not really experienced with identifying specific species. Also not exactly sure of how many camponotus species there are in Washington besides C. Modoc and their differences, so that makes it even more difficult for me

Re: Queens this season WA,Oregon,BC

I've caught like 10 camponotus queens so far over the last month and seen a few more that I didn't bother grabbing, but that's all I've seen so far. Hoping to get a Formica pacifica during their flights which should start somewhat soon. I live in the everett, wa area

Re: Oregon/Washington Ant Sightings Post Here!!!

I bought a THA mini hearth in preparation as a founding nest for if I get something besides Camponotus, but I'm hoping there's some kind people in the Everett, WA area that plan on posting any of their extra tetramorium or formica queens on the GAN in case I can't find one myself.

Re: Oregon/Washington Ant Sightings Post Here!!!

Same, I would much rather raise tetramorium or formica for my first colony. Camponotus are cool, but they just take so long to get up to larger numbers

Re: Oregon/Washington Ant Sightings Post Here!!!

Still haven't found a tetramorium, but found like 6 or 7 more camponotus queens at my work yesterday, so I'm loaded up on those. Didn't expect them to still be flying this late, though.

Sweet, need to start looking for them. What time if day did you find them at?
