Clay? Poison? Help

Anthouse sells sand with 20% clay to stop the tunnels from collapsing, is this necessary? If so what kind of clay could i use and where would i obtain it? I don't want to poison or harm my ants by mistake

(I want to use aquarium white silica sand as a digging medium so i can better see the dark ants)

A small colony can take a long time to dig, my c.nicobarensis colony took over a month to dig a hole big enough to move into, just give them some time

I have heard that woodlice can be kept with ants, i had a few in my setup but they died, not sure what they eat, springtails are great though
