Re: 03/23 Hungary Queen(?) and other workers ID please

No luck for the species. The queen is Myrmica , which are nearly impossible to ID with basic photographs. The Lasius would need much more detail as well. Knowing it's Myrmica is enough for me for now, thanks :) She's semi claustral. Thanks! My other semi-queen is doing fine, expecting her first two...

Re: 03/23 Hungary Queen(?) and other workers ID please

After closer inspection of the first one I can clearly see scar marks on her and she is cleaning the tip of her abdomen which said to be an indicator of her recently being fertilized so I'm kinda happy about it just curious if you can tell the species

03/23 Hungary Queen(?) and other workers ID please

I caught this ant while doing some gardening, she was a lot different in both size, color and behavior than the ants in the surrounding area so she might not be "native to my garden" I think I saw some wing scar marks on her but gonna grab a magnifying glass later to be sure. Measurements are in cen...

Re: My new 3D printed formicarium

They look perfect to me. I wonder where there is excess material, and if it would matter if it stayed on. And two for $35 sounds great. :D Sadly I didn't document the small work I've done on them, basically the bottom open part where the water reservoir is had some excess material that blocked the ...

Re: My new 3D printed formicarium

Awesome! So professional looking! Thanks :) I've GOT to find somewhere round here that can do 3D printing. Did you come up with the design yourself or what? How did you go about the whole process? I love the fact that where the moisture comes into the nest only that part will have the water in it. ...

Re: What do you feed your ants in general

That's a lot of food for a small colony. They eat that all up in a day? I feed mine: distilled water honey water (1 part honey, 4 parts water) frozen fruit flies I tried feeding cut up mealworms but they seem to prefer the fruit flies it's indeed probably ten times more than they need but my pet st...

Re: My new 3D printed formicarium

Today I picked them up from the company that printed it, I was told that there were some errors during the process so there are a few flaws on them (yeah, I got 2!) like a little excess material but I think I will be able to correct them next week so in the end it came out better than I expected, I ...

Re: Frozen feeder insects

Good to hear that they have accepted the frozen food, I just switched from mealworms to crickets (both live tho) and they seem to like it a lot more because it's more soft I guess so I can advise you to continue getting crickets and other soft skin insects for them
