Will any sand work?
I'm building an ant enclosure for my son. We poured the sand into the "tunnel area"? (don't know what it's called). I did pack it down, but here's the question. The sand flows pretty easily, how would the ants make tunnels and chambers without them just collapsing? I don't really have access to non-...

If they are fine, then how long until we need to move them...

I'm not sure what's happening.
My son caught a queen and after some time it had larvae, eventually those hatched, but it's been days and the baby ants haven't developed their exoskeletons and haven't moved. Queen's still alive. Are we doing something wrong?
