Hi,
This is the first winter my pavement ant colony has gone through, and they are not growing no matter what food source I give them.
I think it's something wrong with the humidity because I never check it. Any ideas on how much humidity I need for my pavement ant colony?
Thanks!

Re: Ants Hibernating Near Mold
You should try to make the queen move with the heat of a heater of a source of light because the test tube is too dirty for the ants to live in. Sometimes you cannot always trust the queen to move when she wants to.

Re: Can't Tell If Lasius or Tetramorium
It is definitely Lasius Americanus because I own a colony of Tetramorium Immigans, and they don't look anything like that. Plus, I asked some of my friends and they said it was Lasius too.

Ok, I will try not to disturb her. Here is a picture of the queen.

It doesn't look like Lasius Niger though... More like Lasius Flavus

Re: Sponaneously starting colony
It seems Ok to me, but you might have to deal with an explosion of fungi and mold in the queen's temporarily nest because it's moist, and soft which makes it an ideal place for a breakout of germs that might cause the queen and workers to die.

You can buy tanks on Amazon, and you can also buy them on pet stores in the reptiles section.
