Re: Camponotus workers steadily dying
My thoughts initially are the dying ones are the nanitics since they are just shy of being a year old . I don’t think I’m really doing anything wrong, but I am new to any keeping. Hello, I'm a new ant keeper myself, but based on what I've read, your assessment right there seems correct. Nanitics ar...

Re: Camponotus Queen
My queen is in the same test tube founding chamber, Camponotus CA02. She should be fine. It doesn't have to be a test tube. From my understanding, test tubes are mainly used because they're premade, cheap, easy to find, easy to setup, fulfill and serve their required function for our hobby when setu...

Re: Max Temperature for Camponotus CA02?
Alright so from what I've found, most guides are saying Nest temperature of 20-25C (68-77F) is good. Outworld temperature 20-28C (68-82F). 99% of the people say don't go over 80F in the nest, especially if they're not a desert species. HOWEVER, I got one buddy that threw a wrench into it a bit as he...

Re: What to do with ants if I'm leaving for vacation?
This was of 2018 so i don't think they'd care anymore  Yeah I know, it's more for my use as I'm wondering about it. Was trying not to make a new post and revive this one. Some guy on another platform mentioned that he has a certain nectar and ant feeder that can dispense the feed without getti...

Re: What to do with ants if I'm leaving for vacation?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzyuyKaVZbs Here ya go The whole advice in that video of "get someone to feed and water your ants while you're away" sounds a bit, um.....I mean, that would be an 'of course, if that was even an option' kind of solution. But what if you don't got anyone that wants to...

Re: Huge Camponotus colony escaped overnight?? How?
There's a guy in a post (not on here) that said his carpenter ants I believe, he had to make sure to feed them often or else he notes that they charge the barrier he makes and desperately tries to get out. He said he had to reapply his barrier almost every week. You do got a thousand ants as you sai...

Re: Huge Camponotus colony escaped overnight?? How?
I'm a total noob but I like to investigate (love a good mystery) as well if I may. Do you got a picture of your setup that you can post here? Without seeing a picture, my thoughts: 1. Are you certain they disappear all in one night? Like you saw them Monday and they're all gone Tuesday (for example)...

Re: New to Ant Keeping: Random Questions on Keeping
Alright so since nobody replied even though there's 60+ topic views :? , I'm going to put down my findings here, mostly for myself and to have notes, but also in case any fellow ant keepers have similar questions. I've been proactively and impatiently seeking the answers myself on different platform...

Re: Max Temperature for Camponotus CA02?
Someone told me that the hotter the better for carpenter ants, they even said keeping it at 85F or more. I have mines located in a 11x4x4 rectangular container, nest test tube in it. I want to increase the temperature to speed up their activity and how fast they hatch. So what max safe temperature ...
