Okay… I went back on my lunch break today to approach the hill closest to the road. I took a soft step onto the anthill and took a step back. I had my camera on a Quick Clamp to get as close as possible, which didn’t do a great job capturing the action 😂 I also used it to jostle the hill a bit. http...

Hmm… both of those seem to match my ants appearance less than the F. Exsectoids.

Thanks!! So much of the description and appearance match up to them but definitely non-aggressive. I’d best describe them as fearful when approached. Put a stick into one entrance and they avoided it. I finished walking the path and returned later and none were on or around the stick. I also attempt...

Yes, you likely are correct about formica. A lot of what I read on Wikipedia seems to match up.
