Re: Anyone had success with controlled aphid farming?

Hello, antkeepers. Recently I've had the idea to introduce a sustainable population of aphids into my lasius niger colony's outworld, when I finish making them one. In the UK we have loads of aphids pretty much everywhere, and a few chilli plants of mine are currently teeming with the buggers. The ...

I think you keep them in a naturalistic setup, a test tube won't work.

Check if she's Froggattella, pictures are too blurry to confirm myself.
google literally has no queen pics.
You may have to get clearer pics and ask someone else to help you ID them. You can try posting on iNaturalist.

Re: What is this... long queen?

Have you heard of an ant called the white footed ant? That species is Technomyrmex albipes and they are highly invasive, they look quite similar to black crazy ants and so you may not know about them since they look almost identical to you. They are native to Southeast Asia and have spread to Afric...

Did you catch her from a nuptial flight or from an established nest? How old was she? Did you feed something different to them?
I always fed the colony the same thing. I have no idea how old she was but she had 5 workers. Two died of age.

I feed my colony pnce a month and they grow fine. Am i underfeeding??? How big is the colony? And also how...

I caught a queen ant with a male ant stuck on her. She had a weird bump on her leg so I pulled off the bump and it was a mite or smth. Will this kill the queen? I killed the insect so…
