Ok did some more research and my initial guess was wrong, apparently the ones I caught are pavement ants. Tetramorium caespitum. Sorry for the miss information.

Thanks, I have them in test tube setups, and they're doing pretty well, I gave in and checked on them yesterday and I think 2 of the 4 queens have laid eggs, they're verry small so I'm not sure.

Sorry for spamming so much, but how should I feed them? Just a little drop of honey? Or maybe more so I don't have to replace it often?

And, do you know if this is a hybernating species?
It's late summer, and I live in northern utah, if that accounts for anything.

I caught 4 queens yesterday, Monday august 1st, had no clue there was a nuptial flight till I saw a lot of dead male elates everywhere.
