Re: My tetramorium queen has eggs!

This by far has been my most successful colony. The number of eggs/larvae/pupae/workers is beyond counting. There is a decent sized pile in their test tube. I've already had them move once to a new tube when the first one ran out of water. I've been mostly feeding them fruit flies and spiders until...

Re: My Myrmica Rubra (European Fire Ants!) have eggs!

Sadly I've euthanized this colony. They got really badly infested with mites. I didn't know how to deal with them and I didn't want the mites to spread so I put this colony in the freezer. At least some of the queens had laid eggs, but I still don't know if they had mated successfully as the eggs n...

Re: My camponotus novaeboracensis has eggs!

So oddly not much has changed. She has only had 4 workers all this time. Only recently has she laid a few more eggs, but as far as I can tell there's only one left which one of the workers is taking care of. I'm not sure why there's no progress here but the queen and the current workers are very ac...

Re: My crematogaster queen has eggs!

I hope somebody is still following this topic. My queen has got to be dead. She's belly up, with legs curled in. Her antennae are gone. HOWEVER, the workers are still caring for her after all these months. AND new eggs still keep appearing!!! What is going on here? I mean it's not a lot of eggs, it...

I bet like 20% will be killed bc they are not fertile. You can try though
But still…
if you succeed you will have a massive supercolony that will explode in population so good luck trying to keep them contained!
I better pull an AC and get the pyramid ant colonies out

Re: Help with Camponotus

once I quarantined and I am glad i did. The next day I found the worker dead with like 10 dead mites next to it. Wow. Good thing u quarantined yeah. I was actually doing it for a parasitic queen that was invasive so I had to just give them away when they grew too big... luckily my friend wanted a c...

Re: Lasius Neoniger refusing all proteins I’ve given! Help!

I think the ants generally prefer aphids without wings. I also farm mealybugs and some schoolkids were confused when I started putting them in a container like... they have no idea what a mealybug is. I should give them a lecture on biology... but I doubt they will listen What is a scale bug? What ...

Re: Found a queen, have a question

Definitely out of ideas. Now he's rambling about the acrobat ants... He prob bought those, Becuase knowing him, he would have been like, And not just she has workers, I caught a new queen! And she COULD be a new species Becuase my biologist said they could be a new one after a sent a pic and before...

... don't they know ants are disgusting>
Puts that on an Antkeeping forum and keeps ants lol
they won't bother reading it
Ants aren’t that bad. But as feeder insects, yes, Becuase reptiles that are larger will consume 100s of workers a week, leading to the colonies doom
