Can't see one, but they're lot's of bugs and insects they're eating there.
They could end up being beneficial for some pests, as black garden ants don’t bite. They do farm aphids though…

Is it okey to put black male ant in the same tube as my queen ant (before workers) If so is it benificial?
If she has eggs, no. What species? Some species will mate in captivity…
If she has shed her wings, it will stress the queen as someone is invading her founding chamber.

Re: The Solenopsis Expeirment(And other journals)

November, 2021 Got my hands on a 8 queen invicta colony. We will see how it goes. Day 1: Not too much, but they are still trying to find a nesting spot. Day 2: Moved under the test tube, as I accidentally spilt water  Day 5: Rip most queens, they are gone. Workers killed all but two.(And a few...

The Solenopsis Expeirment(And other journals)

This is where I will report my findings of invicta, and share updates of other colonies of mine.

(By experiment, I mean kind of mess around with them)

I'm not sure if she is but there is 50-100 ants under the pot when I lift it, if that helps.
Is the queen there? It may be they are setting up a new nest.

Re: My queen ant journal

20 May 2022 They don't forage and have thicc repletes  No ants died which is great but probably jinxed myself :? A big healthy brood and cocoon pile in the corner of the main chamber looks promising for a big colony growth (still dont know if cocoon counts as brood). Also someone who has or ha...

Re: Possible Camponotus vicinus flights in southern Ontario.

Its been raining lately. Has anyone from around here seen any queens? There have been a lot of species flying around lately. Good luck! I've not seen much but yesterday when I was working I did see a few males in the window so yeah they seem to be walking around now. I'm not sure what species they ...
