Re: Nuptial flights in Arizona/desert
Oh wow someone else who is in Arizona as well! I haven’t seen a nuptial flight but I have found queens wandering around I currently have 3 different sp. Pogonomyrmex queens ( honestly they were probably already establishing colonies and I just snatched them :? ). I would take SolenopsisKeeper’s advi...

Re: I caught a camponotus sansabeanus queen!
Great news! All three queens each have 2 workers! :D I’m so happy that these three were able to make it all the way through their founding and start colonies. Here they are: #2 https://photos.app.goo.gl/8tJRr82q5wSP5ZPY8 #3 https://photos.app.goo.gl/f2jyxx1z2o2Z6um19 #4 https://photos.app.goo.gl/PpR...

Re: I caught a camponotus sansabeanus queen!
Queen ant update The queens are well and still have lots of brood. It seems like queen #3 is slowly moving to the end of her tube she is possibly trying to move to the new tube since the water in the original tubes are now bone dry. Queen #2 still doesn’t care. Queen #4 is dealing with a bit of mold...

Re: How long for this egg to develop into a worker?
A whole bunch of sites are saying 6-12 weeks from egg to worker however I don’t know for sure I am currently raising some camponotus myself and so far it has taken about 9 weeks for mine to go from egg to pupa (life cycle is, egg-larva-pupa-then adult). I would say it’s still best to keep her in a d...

Re: I caught a camponotus sansabeanus queen!
This is turning into just Sunday queen updates  No loses yet and continued growth on the remaining larvae and eggs (only a few in each that I failed to see last week  ) the queens certainly don’t want to move into the new tubes but are still drinking water from them which has caused a pr...

Needing Queen ant ID
Found these queens walking around a grassy park (had some pine trees and some aspens) about an hour ago there was some dead males I found as well. I caught three of them and they are 10mm long two of them have wings one does not. I haven’t seen this genus of ants before so I’m not to sure what it is...

Re: I caught a camponotus sansabeanus queen!
Late queen update All of queens #2’s and #3’s brood is now all pupae ! (pupa?) and #4 shockingly only has 2 pupae and 2 larva a huge decrease from the last time I checked on her that or I counted incorrectly. Neither queen #2 or #3 have moved into their new tubes but there is a bit of water missing...
