I think the males mistaken your queen ant to their own species of queen ant maybe your queen is their species (we would never know)

It depends on the species. Camponotus parius which are the most common golden ant species you will find in Singapore and also in Malaysia takes about 1 month. Many Polyrhachis species which are less common but are more golden take 2 months. holy. Thanks for the tip :D [nice that someone from Malays...

just wait for about a 2h rain to stop before ant hunting, that would give you the highest chance of catching a queen . Just don't trip and fall onto the concrete floor because you are chasing a queen ant
