Re: suggestion for AntsCanada,Informative and Entertainment.

I have also only recently got into the ant keeping hobby but a little longer, like 6-7 months now and I totally agree with the last comment. I have browsed and watched so many of Mikeys videos that honestly, sometimes I wonder how he comes up with new content each week. I'm very happy that he does c...

Re: Budget formicarium

Yea it would be nice, but the outworld is what I'd like to see drop in price. I absolutely love the design but for $100, I can make my own WAY cheaper and do just as well.

Re: Possible Queen and Species ID

Looks like a Camponotus sp worker. I may be wrong on the species but definently a worker.

Re: Tubes don't fit?

I have that problem with the Hybrid Nest V2 series and come to find out they are made to fit specific test tubes I guess you could say. The test tubes that I have fit perfect in the V1 series but not V2. They are pretty much the test tubes that you buy from their store as well. I don't have an Omni ...

Re: I Cannot find a queen

I have looked at the one at formiculture.com and from what it's saying, the majority of the queens found means nuptial flights are just getting started with the bulk of them in late April through June.

I don't know where you are, but in temperate Northern regions the nuptial season has barely even begun.
Would you say the same thing for Western Tennessee? I'm pretty sure nuptial flights are just beginning here but it doesn't hurt to ask

Re: Nuptial Flight: West TN & surrounding areas

This is preferably for Batspiderfish or Martialis.... or anyone else that would know :-) The last 2 days here in West Tennessee we had a strong cold front. Highs were only in the low 60s high 50s with some rain and lows at night dipping down into the low 40s. Now that its warming back up how long do...

Re: Is this crematogaster?

I know that I'll probably research this as well but when you guys talk about petiole nodes, would that be the area between mesasoma and gaster? And I'm sure I spelled that wrong (mesasoma). I guess I'm just trying to figure out exactly where y'all are talking about. Like I said I need to do my resea...

Re: Is this crematogaster?

I know there is more to it than just the gaster but I you can easily tell this one is a crematogaster :). And of course it's not a queen. I think they knew that already

Re: Queen ant Central Florida/ USA / April 22

Oh yeah that container is definitely way too big. And don't worry I'm sure you'll get and ID in the next 12 hours or less I'm sure LOL. She is pretty though. Kind of looks like a Solenopsis sp. but I couldn't tell you for sure.
