Room temperature in a dark closet, so 60-70 ish.
Also, no issue with organic cotton balls?

Test tube mold?
Hello! I have a few queens caught this past summer — mostly camponotus from SW Vermont, and their cotton ball water blockers have grown a lot of black looking mold (I think). They’re losing their nanitics and I am concerned, going to attempt a test tube move asap before more damage is done. I use th...

Re: Camponotus ants
Says photos are too large! How do I make them smaller… darn it. If only I were the real Doc Lesko I could possibly figure it out.
How should I heat the tube? This setup is in my closet.

Re: Camponotus ants
I have two queens doing relatively well, they’re in test tubes with a lot of black (mold?) on the cotton dividing them from their water. They have have other, clean tube options to move into, regular and sugar water. Is the black stuff dangerous? What should I do to encourage a move, etc?? Also, org...

Re: Camponotus ants
I lost a queen (I think) and her worker is still alive with a clutch of eggs. Should I give up on them or introduce them to my bigger colony? They’re camponotus ants both native to Vermont.

Re: Camponotus ants
If a queen ant constanly goes at the cotton ball in test tube setup after catching her, does she still have to mate? She is another camponotus from Vermont. Thank you!

Camponotus ants
Hello there! Sorry if this is repetitive however I couldn’t find the information I was looking for… I have a young camponotus colony (from Vermont, where I live) with nine workers and they are in an AC solenopsis setup. I feed them mealworms and crickets along with grape jelly. So… For their first o...

Re: Is Queen dead?
Can’t tell if there’s any mites though she is curled up a good deal and does nothing in response to my tapping of the glass.
