Re: Concerns about new small colony.
Maybe mold? Move them to a new testube might help. I am trying to. I've been shining a light on the mouldy test tube in an attempt to get them moving out, but it's been two days and no luck. One worker even scoped out the new test tube, sat in it for a couple of hours, and then went back to the mou...

Concerns about new small colony.
Hello! I haven't been around much, school's been a pain in my backside. I have a few concerns with one of the newer queens I have caught, the one who has actually hatched out her nanitics and is fertilized. She had around 7 or 6 nanitics, but I checked on her yesterday and it seems like most of them...

Re: Hibernation Situation
Hello! I should give an update on this:
Both queens did not make it. They lived for a few months after, but one day I looked in and saw both were not responsive.
This is alright! I have found two new queens this summer, one of which has successfully laid eggs and hatched out a few workers.

Re: Hibernation Situation
Update: Actually, I think the cotton for one of the test tubes is starting to mold already.

Hibernation Situation
So I have a bit of a conundrum, my two queens who are currently supposed to be hibernating have both run out of water in their individual test tubes. I've created two new clean test tubes with fresh water and attached them to the old test tubes with tape, and even attempted to use the tried and true...

Hibernation Questions
Hi! I keep forgetting to make a post on here- It's November already and I haven't properly put my two new fully claustral queens (Lasius pallitarsis) into hibernation and I know I should've made a post about this a lot sooner but I've been super busy lately. I just have some questions! Since I am a ...

Re: Need some help with my two newly captured queens
Alright, thank you so much!! I'll start planning out how to obtain newer, slightly bigger test tubes.

Re: Need some help with my two newly captured queens
Sounds good! Just remembered another question I had, do I need to refill the water in the test tube if it's low?

Re: Need some help with my two newly captured queens
Thank you so much! This really cleared up a lot and I appreciate it! PS- The reason I have them in a drawer is because my mother doesn't like that I'm trying to start an ant colony in her house and she's afraid they might escape, even though I told her that I did everything correctly and they are se...
