Has anyone seen any Trachymyrmex Septentrionales ants in northern Kentucky? They're the northernmost fungus growing ant, with some even spotted in New York, but they're small and rare. I've been looking around for queens as they're supposed to be flying from May to September, but I haven't seen anyt...

I caught a prenolepis imparis queen on the 26th. They might still be flying for more northern areas. I'm glad anting season has begun.

I found 3 ponera pennsylvanica queens and a myrmica. Today's semi-claustral day I guess.

There were a ton of queen ants out today. I caught 5 crematogaster crease queens and 3 pheidole tysoni queens! :D :D :D

Actually I'm pretty sure its a temnothorax curvispinosus queen.Case closed.

I need help identifying this queen!

About a week ago, I was cleaning out my pond and I noticed a tiny ant floating on the surface of the water. I found a lasius claviger queen yesterday. I didn't capture it because I've heard that they are impossible to keep because of their social parasitic nature.

I don't think so. It might be more difficult since less queens are flying at this point, but I think it's possible.
