Re: Moving the Queen

https://i.imgur.com/azehfqq.jpg (Water Bottle for scale  ) So this is how the ants have been since this morning. Been about 5 hours and they really don't seem to be moving much. Would you recommend getting them a bit closer? Or should I just let them figure it out at this point? I'm just conc...

Yesterday caught 4 Camponotus pennsylvanicus queens.
I've been DYING to find Camponotus queens. What kind of area did you find them in? I have tons of Camponotus ants in my back garden, but haven't seen any queens about yet.

Queen in NY - Caught 6/23/2017

https://i.imgur.com/hhDif0n.jpg Hi AC Fam. Sorry for the terrible quality on this one, the condensation is making it difficult to get a good shot since I'm also in the process of trying to get them to change their test tube, which is also why I'm finally trying to get an ID on this species. I was t...

Re: Nuptial Flight Sightings: New York

I believe I saw a camponotus queen a couple of nights ago when it was in the 80's. Spotted her in the morning on my way home from work, but unfortunately had nothing on my to catch her. Saw her in the light under my front step. Hope that helps!

Re: Moving the Queen

Thanks a bunch! I'll be sure to try this tomorrow once I'm home from work. I don't want to start it now since like I said I'll be in bed soon, and don't want to leave my light on in my room all night, but also don't want to just agitate them for an hour if there's no guarantee they will move. I'll k...

Moving the Queen

So I managed to catch a queen ant last September. After keeping her in a test tube for a long while, I checked on her periodically, and am now at the point where the test tube I put her in is out of water. I should add that she has about 10 workers now, as well as more eggs. I figured if I just fill...

Re: Queen in NY, 9/18

Lasius neoniger Thanks a bunch! Any tips or things to know about these in particular? I raised this species, and it is very important for you to know that she WILL NOT LAY EGGS UNTIL AFTER HIBERNATION. This is very important because a lot of people think that their lasius neoniger queens are infert...

Queen in NY, 9/18

http://imgur.com/a/K6nQ1 A link to an album of some of the pictures I took of one of many (queens?) I saw today. So I had a few questions on this ant. 1) Is this a queen, or a male? 2) What is the species? As stated in the title, the ant photographed was seen today, 9/18, in New York, and more speci...
