I would love to be able to have a colony. I am open to really any species. Nothing too big or mega difficult to take care of. I have a fe...

Re: Luring out a queen

You could try the normal method for speeding up any ants! Use some heat and apply it directly to the crack, slowly introduce it to be more hot and more hot. Any advice on what I could use as a heat source? I know Mikey Bustos has a few videos on luring whole colonies over to new fornicariums, He me...

My first queen found laid eggs already!

The Queen we found the other day laid 5 or more eggs today. She is conveniently hanging out right by the exit tube I want her to be. I was able to get I think 24 workers when I found her nesting on top ground under a bin. Unfortunately no photo of egg laying. It's a new hobby and think these are cla...

Re: Using OmniNest as Semi Claustral Founding Chamber

oh ok but how do u feed it just wondering #AntLove . This is how I am feeding her, with a miniature spoon holding a drop full of honey in the top singular chamber. I have to say I have had a great deal of trouble with the "lids" for the Omni Nest rooms, some of them are very tight and I doubt I'll ...

Re: Keeping a Formicarium Outside

I am in southwest florida. Very new to ant keeping. I did have a whole colony of rifa which my yard is riddled with. We had them in a large bin with vaseline. In the shade and they were loving life in that bin. I wouldn't experiment with anything more valuable though. I did recently catch a queen wh...

I am sorry to hear that. Thanks for sharing the photo and the find. I guess maybe better to end quickly then to have false hope.

Re: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi Nuptial Flight Thread!!!!!

I see that I didn't post the video properly earlier but I am new at this. Bare with me. Are these more rifs? We were able to scoop up the queen 2 or 3 medium workers and maybe 20 or more very tiny ones. Also were some eggs but not many.
