This link should take you to some blurry pictures. Note the orange cotton and water. I've pointed out the ants with their legs curled up.

Re: Camponotus Questions

Thanks you for replying. Right now I have a circular piece of paper that slides onto the test tube, so maybe picking it up to check on them is too much. Ill get a leaf. The good news is that none of the other workers or the queen seem to be acting strangely so this might have just been a controlled ...

Re: Camponotus Deaths

Hey can I actually get some help with this I'm kind of worried. Still only three ants not moving, but they all look dead and the other ants are doing their best to keep the dirt filling the test tube to the brim. They have enclosed themselves in a one inch long space within the test tube. Can anyone...

Camponotus Questions

I have a few questions about the Camponotus "colony" I am taking care of, with 6 workers, and around 10 larvae. I am kind of confused. So here goes. A couple weeks ago I gave them a outworld with a base of model magic to even an uneven surface of a container. I though it was non toxic and wouldn't h...

Re: Massachusetts Flight Sightings

Lasius Neoniger (I think?) flew this evening, expecting more flights. I only caught 2 queens, both winged, but no attempt to fly and their fixation on grooming themselves suggests they have mated.

Re: Is epoxy safe?

I have had no experience with epoxy, but I do know that some formicaria do use epoxy to harden materials like you said. AntsAustralia has a shop where he uses epoxy to harden the Y-Tong he uses to build his nests. So judging from that I would say it's probably ok, but you should probably wait to see...

Model Magic

Does anyone know if Model Magic is toxic to ants? I want to use it to shape the bottom of a container I'm going to use as an outworld, but I'm worried it will kill the ants. It does say it is nontoxic, but I just want to make sure. Thanks!

I am still finding dealates walking around or under wood from the medium-sized flight last week. Camponotus are probably not done flying.
Lets hope so!
Anyways, hoping tetramorium will fly soon.
Keep reporting findings!

Re: Ants Abandoning Test Tube

They still have not moved into their tube. It's sunday and this started on Thursday.
My only idea at this point is to put an LED light above them so that the feel exposed and then move into the covered test tube. Does this sound like a good idea or is there something else I can do? Thanks!

Re: Massachusetts Flight Sightings

I have found a lot more Campo queens, all with wings, but most of them broke off their wings. I think it's all the extreme heat that's bringing them out, though I think they fly in the evening or early morning because I did not see them fly. I had field day, so I found one queen hiding in the shade ...
