Yeah I’m pretty sure everyone in the ant keeping hobby has the hardest time not peaking on the ants. I’m guilty of checking on them way to much .

Re: Great idea for ant food - protein
Oh gosh! Yeah I’m always worried it might mold.
Actually, I’m not sure if this is bad of me, but I mix raw egg whites with some honey and they seem to really enjoy it.

Re: Questions about my small Camponotus novaeboracensis colony.
Hi! So if the situation is the same as how it was in the last photo I’m pretty sure they don’t need more space. That nest has plenty of space for them. Perhaps they are trying to get away from disturbances? If they are taking brood with them, then maybe the area has more moisture or is a better temp...

Re: Prenolepis Imparis journal
Hey, good catch! Yeah it makes sense that she wouldn’t eat her earthworm. I’m sure you know way more about the species than me but Prenolepis are fully claustral. Besides the initial honey water, any more food might just stress her out and create an unsafe environment for her eggs. She looks great t...

Another method, Have your workers been exploring the new tube much? You could place a drop of honey water on tinfoil in the new tube to entice them to go there...

Hi!
If you have access to a heating cable/mat, you could just heat the new tube. ( maybe ? )

Re: I need help
Yeah, sorry to hear about her first batch... I waited to feed my nanitics until about 5-7 days of them eclosing. My campo queen now has 7 workers, so I would say that it worked!

Wooden ant nests!
Hello! I have been researching how to make wooden nests for my young Camponotus colony. I have found a couple of really great designs, but humidity is a slight problem... Does anyone know how to make a DIY "Nestmate" from Tarheel ants? Or any tips for making the nests themselves? I'll try and post p...
