Re: Queen ID Cortland NY, 06/02/2022, noon

Found this queen in a driveway on the way back to my work van luckily homeowner didn't see ( hard to explain to a customer why the person installing their equipment is catching ants in a cup). It was just after noon and yesterday had thunderstorms. Today was 72 and partly sunny with slight breeze. ...

Re: Advice on Catching Camponotus Pennsylvanicus Queens

These are the 2 Camponotus novaeboracensis queens I caught on May 22nd. The second queen was caught on the path I have photographed in the album to show the kinds of places I like to search. That queen was found on that path at around 330 pm.

Re: Pennsylvania and Nearby Locations Nuptial Flight Sightings Thread

I have only seen one brachymyrmex queen, idk if it was from a flight it was just a dark brown one on the side of a shed. When I had tried to capture her, she had quickly escaped into a crack in the wood and I never saw her again lol.

I've caught all of my camponotus in New York between 1-5 pm so far, I've only seen a couple males at night.

Re: Advice on Catching Camponotus Pennsylvanicus Queens

Camponotus I believe are a great species species to start with catching, it's pretty hard to miss those giant queens and gets you used to seeing the differences in shape and movement of queens. Campo super majors can get me confused from a far early season because they are so large. I think it depen...
