How do you feed small colonies?? Please help!

Hi! I'm a novice ant keeper struggling to understand feeding my new colony. I have a test tube with maybe 20 workers and a queen (small species). I've been giving them drops of honey, but haven't given them any protein because I'm not sure how. I can only buy meal worms in groups of 12, but they're ...

Re: Welcome back to the Camponotus Crew! (New topic, old one got too long)

Hey! I posted this on a different topic, but didn't get any traction and am low on time to make a decision. Thought I'd try here since it's a camponotus colony Hi! I'm a new ant keeper who recently obtained a Camponotus pennsylvanicus colony. It's in a test tube set up, 10-20 workers strong, and has...

Hibernation concerns

Hi! I'm a new ant keeper who recently obtained a Camponotus pennsylvanicus colony. It's in a test tube set up, 10-20 workers strong, and has been fed with drops of sugar water and chunks of mealworm pre-hibernation. In the process of moving the colony to my college dorm, it was warmed up enough for ...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Thanks! I removed the mat and will give her some space. Hello! I'm new to ant keeping and recently caught a Camponotus Pennsylvanians queen. I have her in a test tube set up and am trying to leave her alone. I have part of the test tube under a 7-watt heating mat that I'd typically use for my snake...

Re: Hardest Queen Loss

Hey! I'm actually a 16 year old in ant keeping. I recently caught a Camponotus pennslyvanicus queen and have her in a test tube set up. I initially put half of her test tube over a heating pad but have since removed it, as this is the second time I've read of them hurting the queens. Did you ever co...

Re: Immobile Queen Ant

I gave her a heating pad to hopefully make her comfy and encourage laying. Leaving her alone for the next week or two

I'll do my best to find others. They seem to be evading me.

Outworlds

Is anyone aware of an outworld that's cheaper than the one on AntsCanada's website? I've found bestantsUK has one that's more reasonable, but I'm not sure if it's compatible with other AntsCanada products. I could make my own, but I fear an ant escape.

Re: Queen Ant Identification

I recently caught this ant due to its size. Seemed abnormally big so I wanted to know if it were a queen. I'm struggling to figure this out, however, as I can't even figure out what kind of ant she is. Does anyone know? Any guesses on if she's a queen? https://drive.google.com/file/d/11K743gCfo_kfxa...
