Re: Alarmingly slow progress from Prenolepis queen

If the queen is hungry she will drink the honey, don’t worry, and if something is wrong there is nothing you can do, you just have to do everything in your control then the rest is up to the queen, a larva is a good sign, they will probably eat when the larva hatches.

Re: Ant Problem

First thing to check is if the light source you have chooses is giving off heat, if it is not, just give them a little bit more time, ants are very good about doing what is needed. If the light does give off heat, just change the light source or move the light farther away.

Re: Picky eaters

What always worked for me was to just feed boiled egg whites or yolks, they are widely accepted.

Re: Are my ants normal sized

Feeder insect alternatives

But I need to feed them protein, the catch is I really don’t have the funds or the luxury to go and get feeder insects, I also need to know weather ant keeping is a sustainable practice for me, but the good thing is I h...

Re: How do ants allocate worker on searching foods?

So the number of ants that go out to hunt initially is around a quarter to a half of the ants depending on the size of the colony, once they have found food, if the prey item is alive or a large bit of insect, more workers go, around three quarters, depending on the size, but if the colony is really...
