I am going to be receiving a fire ant colony pretty soon and I am using Vaseline for a barrier in my glass tank setup. would anything be better other than fluon? i sadly do not have access to rubbing alcohol mixes with bay powder but i am worried Vaseline wont be enough. The Best Barrier?

I am going to be receiving a fire ant colony pretty soon and I am using Vaseline for a barrier in my glass tank setup. would anything be better other than fluon? i sadly do not have access to rubbing alcohol mixes with bay powder but i am worried Vaseline wont be enough.

Do you mean baby powder? (Without starch) Some of it is trial and error. I recommend you watch all of the clips on fire ants by AntsCanada by Mickey, so you have an idea of what to expect. Separating queens would slow down the growth rate yes, but good luck trying to do so. Be prepared to face 33 angry ants which will want to defend themselves. If you do want to do this, I suggest you stick the entire colony in the fridge for a couple of days. The cooler temperature will slow them do...
