Identify this queens species?

I caught a healthy, egg-laying queen about a week ago and she has laid about 15 eggs. I am still conflicted over what species she is and I need some help. I live in North America in the state of Indiana. The queen is about 3mm, she is a reddish brownish color, and I caught her at the end of May. I’v...

Re: Ant Queen Identification

Yeah mine might actually be a Monomorium species. I haven’t really thought about that.

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Also I’ve recently caught a queen. Though she definitely is not Camponotus just based on her size. I know for a fact that she is a queen and has already laid about 15 eggs, but I am having a lot of trouble identifying her species. Could someone help me out? Pictures included in attachments.

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

I caught my first queen, a black carpenter ant, last month. She suddenly had a strange purple mold looking thing appear on her cotton, how can I remove it and is it dangerous? Also, she got stuck in a small glob of horny recently and has struggled in moving her legs and is crossing them like a dead...

Re: Ant identification

Being native to North America, I find Camponotus queens on a regular basis nesting in my firewood. Chances are, if it’s brownish and reddish, and you found it in wood, it’s probably Camponotus. Size is also a big factor. Ants belonging to the Camponotus family are much larger than most ants in North...

Re: Hibernation

A simple answer, most ants in cold regions hibernate. They also run on biological timers that tell them when to hibernate, so you can’t trick them by placing them in a warm room.

Re: Identify the species of this queen?

Yeah I was really surprised by the fact she’s less than 3 mm considering ants that small are uncommon in indiana, but I am sure of the measurements. Also I got the pictures :)

Identify the species of this queen?

Hey guys. I recently caught my first healthy, egg laying queen. She’s laid about ten-fifteen eggs as June 2nd, but I still can’t figure out what species she is. She’s about 2.5-2.75 mm, a reddish-brownish color, and I caught her at the end of May. I live in North America in the state of Indiana. I t...
