Warm Source for Ants

I have a light for my ants to keep them warm and I was wondering if I should have the light constantly on or can I turn it off everyday. They are also in complete darkness.

Re: My fire ant queen died

I’m very sorry to hear that. I hope you catch a new fire ant queen. If it makes you feel better, I had a fire ant queen too and she died, but I found another one and now she has Nanitics.

Help! Pheidole Colony

I have a Pheidole Colony and about 10 workers. The thing is they haven't grown in numbers and one of them has already died. It is also a very small colony, so I really don't want to move them anywhere because it may make things worse. Is there anyway to make sure they thrive?

Re: Dual Queen Identification

I would recommend putting them in a fridge, but possibly change the temperature of the fridge, so it isn’t too cold for them.

Re: Scattered Eggs

Have Got Nanitics! Went on vacation for a week and a half so don’t know when they hatched. But exciting! Hopefully I gave them enough food, but will now be checking on them every week.

Re: Colony Gone Wrong

Fire Ant colonies are considered to be fast growing colonies, which make them very difficult to care for. It may be best to release them. Possibly keep them in a cool environment or don’t give them a great deal of food as well. In order to slow down the process of a fast growing colony.

Scattered Eggs

I have a Phediole Queen that has scattered eggs. They look like their developing, which makes me question if she is infertile or fertile. Have had her for three weeks. This is the first time I have checked one her.
