our first 2 nanitics have arrived!

we attached a small chamber with a fresh water tube and i put in a drop of honey so they could give the queen some well deserved nourishment!

our queen seems to be doing well, she is sitting on a large pile of eggs and larvae and our first pupa emerged from its cocoon, it is completely clear and looks amazing, i couldnt' get a picture of it but here is a picture of the eggs and larvae with the Queen.

I checked on the queen we caught on the 17th and there is a little pile of eggs in the test tube now!

this was from when we caught her

looks like same species as previously caught, hoping for better results this time

Good news, we found another queen this morning wandering around in the foyer of our building.

She walked right into her tube and beelined to the water and has been drinking ever since.

Hopefully we have better luck this time.

We caught another one at 2020-05-30 13:00 EST in Bristol County, MA. She was hanging out in the foyer of our building and was lucky she didn't get squished by someone. She crawled right into a container and right into her test tube. She must have been very thirsty because she went right to the water...

ambient temperature in the room was between 68-72 degrees

the tube was sitting on a desk and we wrapped the tube with a piece of foil to block out light and put a small box over it

sad to report she was dead this morning when I checked on her.

she seemed really healthy and vital when we put her in the tube.

is this common?
