Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
@LogiZoe Those are some pretty normal concerns :) As for the new ants coming, I'm not too sure. The queens and workers decide when they want to move and normally is not in one day. Leave them in a nice dark area for another week maybe and then check if they have moved. Now that they have nanitics, ...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
Good Morning All. I am happy to say 2 of the 3 Queens I caught with my son have finally had their first babies. 1 Queen has 2 and the other has 4. I am slightly concerned of 2 things. 1st. The initial workers have been around for a while now and no new ones seem to be coming. At least 2 months. 2nd....

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
The test tube looks fine to me, I think you need to just let them alone for a few weeks then check on them. They may also not be mated. If they haven't laid eggs yet that is. I am concerned about that. But we found them all after their wings were off.. so I hope they mated. My son will be extremely...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
Hello all, question about time line for the queens to lay their eggs. I have had 3 queens in test tube or jar set up for over 3 weeks now, and still no eggs. I do a quick peak once a week just to make sure they arent dead or the water is ok. Any ideas? should I just keep waiting? Patience is a virt...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!
Hello All, Thanks for the invite into the group! really appreciate it. I am helping my son who has become interested in ants and housing a colony. I think we might have found a 2nd queen today that has finished her nuptial flight and has shed her wings. Any chance I can get some input to see if I a...

Re: Newbie - Queen Ant
Thanks so much for the info and the invite.
1 more question. Coming home today, I found this little one running down my drive way.
To me it looks like a queen that has lost her wings. Any chance you can confirm.
