Re: Species ID help

Thanks everyone for your help in identifying. So far do people prefer the hybrid or Omni nests for their species? I'm personally leaning towards the Omni for viewing. Let me know thoughts/opinions. Not sure exactly of this species of myrmica colony/nest personality/privacy specifications.

Thanks

Species ID help

Hello people, Can someone please help identify this species. The photos should be linked to my shutterfly account. Couldn't figure out how to actually post them here even after watching the video. Sorry for the photo quality to those who can see them. That's the best I can make my camera perform. Yo...

Re: Just got my first pair of ladies! [VA]

Congrats! I've also seen a couple species flying in the last couple weeks due to all the rain and warm weather in the northland. I hope you have a successful winter starting a colony!

Re: Anyone else in Minnesota? Northern Climate US

Thanks for the response guys/gals! I have been searching on cement and in the woods in my area for the last couple weeks. Still no signs of flights :( Yesterday it snowed and was quite cold again (33 degrees F) but today it warmed up to about (68 degrees F). I was hoping to see some movement and hap...

Re: Anyone else in Minnesota? Northern Climate US

Hey WillwithAnts, Thanks for the welcome. I will also be searching for camponotus when they emerge! Looking forward to seeing Prenopelis too but just trying to find a way to successfully keep them at adiquate temps. Also Lasius are quite awesome but later in the summer? We have a typical larger Marc...

Re: Anyone else in Minnesota? Northern Climate US

Hey, Thanks for the quick response! I will definitely be searching for Prenopelis imparis soon as it is still quite cold here. Such an interesting species. I'm just concerned about keeping them because I plan on housing a colony in my reptile room, which is always above 72 degrees F. I know they don...

Anyone else in Minnesota? Northern Climate US

Hello everyone, I'm brand new to the forum and will be having a great time hopefully soon in searching for queens to start a colony(s). Is anyone else on here from Minnesota or another close cold climate state? It is still quite chilly up here and as of yet I'm not seeing hardly any invertebrate mov...
