Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone might give a recommendation for a new ant formicarium. My camponutus penn. colony is doing well. However, my antworld formicarium is starting to fall apart. The little 3D print watering system broke. The ants have moved out into the test tube drinking area inst...

Hello Camponotus Crew, it’s been a while. My queens didn’t make it last year. However, today will cleaning out one of my dead honeybee hive boxes. I noticed a colony of black carpenter ants. I collected all that I could. I am hoping I caught the queen. There quite a few super majors. So I don’t real...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Hi everyone, Over a week ago. I caught 3 queens, I believe they are camponotus. I found them when I was splitting some firewood and they were hiding under the bark. I knew they were queens because they have wings. So I put them each in a test tube setup. I just check up on them. And they still have ...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

So when I woke up this morning, I noticed the camponotus penn. queen and all of her workers moved themselves out of their original test tube and into an empty test tube that was connected to the ac portal. I had just clean the empty test tube. It was their where they placed all their trash, so it wa...

Re: Caring for Camponotus pennsylvanicus

Hello, I have recently caught a Camponotus pennsylvanicus queen and had some questions on care. I watched the AntsCanada video on how to care for this genius and they said to keep them in tube until they had 20 to 50 workers. My questions are. First, how do you feed them in the tube and remove tras...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Hello friends, Just joined this morning. I want to start my own colony of carpenter ants. I live in Pennsylvania too, Northeast - the Pocono's. I'm new to ant keeping and just caught my first ant queen, a Camponotus read/black ant queen! I grabbed her from a colony thriving in my backyard. I put he...

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Thanks Cabbo, I appreciate the heads up about the queen not being able to turn around. I think I have now run out of wax worms though, or rather they all died or turned into moths and then died, -Cabbo Cabbo, I would like you restock your wax worm supply by visiting my 12 honeybee hives, any wax wo...
