Are you sure this will work. When I tried to get them to move i placed honey and they found it drank it but didnt move. I tried to tilt the test tube down and woldnt move. Also I dont want to damage the brood with a skewer i might work for the queen and workers but im scared for the brood.

I recently got my Formica Subsericea colony out of hibernation. I have a queen, 3 or 4 workers and a brand new batch of larvae I'm noticing a ton of mold on the cotton I tried taping together a new tube with honey but they wouldnt move at all. I'm just wondering if I should even try to move it yet. ...

Mold on the cotton of my test tube
Hi so I have 2 colonies in the nanitic stage and they just had there first piece of protein but I noticed that their cotton is covered in mold I've tried moving them into the new clean test tubes I've prepared for them but they wont budge how can I get them to move.

Good to know but im wondering if its a lasius it might be a social parasite and that would be why my last queen died what do you think? I also own a prenolepis imparis colony culd that maybe be a host?

I had a similar queen a few weeks ago but it died and this queen i found was near a colony of ants underneath a whellbarrow
