Thanks CANant. I hope I get to the day when I have a huge colony.
You will! We all will!
Thats the dream. Though it depends how long it takes before the wife decides she had enough of loose ants in the house! :P

Re: Desert ants and reptiles?

Not 100% sure what the post above mine is trying to say.. :? HOWEVER, I would be reluctant to put ants and beardies in the same enclosure. You wont be able to care of the ants for starters and the beardie will try to eat them. The other issue being that the enclosure for your reptile might not be su...

Re: Canada Ant Colonies (It is not AntsCanada)

Well the website looks like a legit shopify deal. :P If that helps at all. ( I know it dosen't). They look like they are sourcing equipment from a couple different places. I am not a fan of tarhell ant equipment at all. I can make better quality nests myself. Looks fine to me, though I would refrain...

Re: My ants won't eat the mealworm.

Can you get the mealworm out?
It depends how big the colony is and what else is going on . If you put a queen straight into jelly she probably isn't too happy about it.
Even a small colony will have trouble navigating a new area, let alone hunting in it.

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

a. Can I please get a picture of your setup? Depending how little it is, they might end up interefering with the ants and the ants if they are growingly slowly might not be up to the task of fending them off. b. Most of those things sound like they should be ok. Slugs for sure should be fine, but I ...

Re: Ant Setup Idea/Need Help

Someone with alot more experience than I mentioned to me that the mould might not bother most ants too much! And in the wild they would deal with it themselves. Which makes sense when you think about it. The other thing is, the sand dosent necessarily need to be wet / moist. I was looking at the hyb...

Re: Amazon Availibility?

Well Mikie would have to. But then it becomes a question of how involved does he want to get with it. I am very curious about where the nests are made, given that the website seems to be very US based. So I am wondering if its nests made over seas then warehoused in the US.

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

So of course since I’m new, I have some crazy ideas. Has anyone ever tried to to giving brood from one colony of ants to another? I have heard of some ants stealing brood, so I just got to thinking, what would happen, if you harvested brood from an a wild ant colony and place the brood with a found...

Re: Amazon Availibility?

Did consider that and I did original write something about having a contractual obligation or even a DMR setup. but then I removed it from the post because it seemed a little more complex than it needed to be.

Re: Ant Care Sheets For Australian Ants

Saddly there isn't really a definitive sheet for species in Australia. Though I am working on one some for the species I have but Im still very new and who knows how long this might take.
Was there a specific species you were looking at info for?
