Re: Leaving for 1 month, how to care for new queens?

If there is too much food there could be a greater risk of mold. I don't know of any other risk though. Your queens should be perfectly fine when you come back. Plus if they are camponotus queens (which I think they are) workers take two months to form anyways. So depending on how long ago you caugh...

Re: Melting holes in plastic

I'm not sure if that would work long term. Do you plan to melt a hole in it and pour it out and refill? If so are you going to reseal it with a cotton ball? I'm not sure if this would work for small colonies but you can tape two test tubes together until the ants decide to move and then take the old...

Re: Feed Queen?

Hello everybody! In April I caught a Fire ant queen. She laid eggs a few weeks ago and has a pretty decent brood pile. Re: Help! i guess.

Hi all I'm after your thoughts, help and advice. In ant keeping terms I'm a novice but this is not the 1st time I've kept ants and I've had / have many other animals and insects before. I've recently acquired several different queens with workers, through to a couple of small colonies. everything h...

Re: Multiple Atta queens

I have never encouraged keeping queens in a polygynous setup as it can be harmful to the queens. However, almost every ant youtuber I've seen has their Atta colony with multiple queens. Would this increase their survival because there would be more fungus pellets or would this decrease survival bec...

Re: Idea

That wouldn't really be a good idea. When it tries to land it would be hunted down. If your outworld looks gloomy, try adding decorations! It doesn't even have to be plants it could be miniature statues too.

Re: Ant Transportation

Yes, you can wrap the box with towel to dampen the vibrations also. Music wouldn't be too much of a problem as long as the volume is low and there are no low frequency base music which vibrates the whole car. Even if they escape, they would still be in Texas so there won't be any problem because as...
