they will accept more queens, you can catch queens in established colonies and put them in the outworld. My myrmica rubra colony has never rejected a queen. If i am correct the myrmica queens have a much shorter lifespan than other ant species so i would catch queens every summer. it dosen't matter ...

Ytong formicarium for trap jaw ants

Hello,i plan on building a setup for my odontomachus monticola colony and and i wonder if anybody has some experience with moisture loving ants in ytong nest.
This is my first ytong formicarium and i want it to be able to hold moisture well for my ants. How often should i water the nest?

I have a odontomachus monticola queen, she is in a testube filled with sand and she has a small chamber with a large batch of eggs and a pupae, one larvae was dumped outside and then eaten. Update: i bought dubia roaches they are about 5mm smaller than the queen, i cut it in half and it moves around and still she show no intrest i it :( I also made a small outworld with a thin moist sandy substrate, it is like the AC testtube portal and she goes out and look up as if she wants to climb...

Hi! Myrmecia queens are semi claustral and require proteins, insects maybe mealworms or crickets but i recommend you gut load them before you feed them to get the max amout of protein out of them. Hi! your queen is hibernating and will start laying eggs when the hibernation is over, in most european species i think this is around march. Nope i don't have, but i am going to try crickets or dubia roaches today and se if she just ain't hungry. She has rejected a few tiny fruit flies that i found yesterday (forgot to mention) 😏
I can se her in the sandy chamber close to The cotton.
