I've caught so many crematogaster, but they are relatively difficult species to keep.
I guess I got lucky. My first crematogaster is the only queen I've had success with so far. All my other queens of all other species ended up dying. I hope my new queen works out.

Re: My crematogaster queen has eggs!

Not much change this past week. Up to about 30 workers I think now. Getting a lot harder to count. When I peek in at them, they are pretty inactive right now. Today I by chance came across what may be another crematogaster queen! She still has her wings but has a a good sized gaster so hopefully tha...

Re: My crematogaster queen has eggs!

At least another 4 or 5 new workers eclosed over the last couple days. I'm starting to struggle to count them now. Would make at least 25 to 26 workers now with yet more still coming soon. They are still mostly clustering around the queen in the main nest. Most of them have very full gasters that lo...

Re: My crematogaster queen has eggs!

I never place the food directly in their tube. They are connected to a small outworld I designed and 3D printed for them.

Re: My crematogaster queen has eggs!

They stopped eating it and I removed it and placed a fresh one in there. They haven't touched the fresh one that I put in a few days ago. In fact, they seem to have gone into a mostly dormant mode. All the ants have pretty much collected around the queen and have been pretty inactive since they stop...

Re: My crematogaster queen has eggs!

Ok, I have no idea why the plural word for ant is being censored in my previous messages. Anyway, I've started trying wax worms with my crematogasters this week. The first one I partially cut in half and for the first day they wouldn't touch it. They are going at it now but it is probably too big fo...

Re: My crematogaster queen has eggs!

Not much new other than up to at least 21 workers with more on the way. I've been feeding them banded crickets that I find outside my building. I steam them for about 30 seconds to kill them as I hate squishing bugs. Unfortunately, these ants seem to have trouble penetrating the cricket's shell and ...
