Small Queen ID

Hi. ArizonanAnts here... I caught a small black queen back in October. She layed eggs and to my surprise, they formed into cocoons! I thought she was a tapinoma sessile (looks about the same if you were wondering [I don't have any pictures]) but they don't produce cocoons. Can anyone help me? Thank ...

Re: Grace Ant Journal

It all depends on the ant. I know some queens take a long time for their brood to develop. Also, the climate could affect development. Does she have eggs? If she does, don't worry. Just give her until spring, when it warms up, and see how she does. For example, I thought that smaller ants would deve...

Can you describe the colors? That will be a little more helpful. If you could find a way to put a picture that would also be very helpful.

Thank you,

Re: Welcome to the Camponotus Crew!

Hey guys! I checked on what I think is a Minimorium Minimum and all of her eggs are larvae!!! Hopefully, in about 2 weeks we will see workers! The Solenopsis ant that I have seems to have about 30 to 40 eggs but no larvae. I did catch both of these on the same day so it makes sense that the Solenops...

Re: Eggs not hatching!

Yeah. the colony is still relatively small so this will give them a chance to get their bearings straight and excel at the start of spring.
